At the recent annual work conference of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, a set of data was announced: the construction of information infrastructure and the development of the 5G industry have accelerated, and the cumulative number of 5G base stations built has exceeded 124,000. one.
It is reported that at the beginning of 2020, Guangdong plans to build 48,000 5G base stations within the year, basically achieving continuous coverage in the central urban area of the Pearl River Delta. By the end of the year, the annual target will be substantially exceeded, reaching 258%.
Earlier in May 2019, Guangdong Province announced the “Guangdong Province Action Plan for Accelerating the Development of the 5G Industry (2019-2022)”. It is planned that by the end of 2020, the 5G network in the central urban area of the Pearl River Delta will basically achieve continuous coverage and commercial use, and the 5G output value will exceed 300 billion yuan. By the end of 2022, the Pearl River Delta will build a 5G broadband city cluster, and the main urban areas will achieve continuous 5G network coverage, forming a trillion-level 5G industrial cluster, and key core technology innovation capabilities will be at the forefront of the world.
It is reported that in 2021, Guangdong will comprehensively promote the large-scale construction of 5G networks in the east, west and north regions of Guangdong, including the construction of 700M 5G networks and the construction of data centers.
Guangdong is one of the “main battlefields” for the competition among the three major operators, and is the highland of the national information technology industry and application.
