Get rid of the RF module chip problem? BWIC can achieve mass production by the end of the year

With the advent of the 5G era, wireless communication Chips have also become the focus of competition in various countries. However, at present, my country’s wireless communication chips, especially high-end chips, still rely heavily on imports, which has become a “stuck” factor in the development of 5G.

It is reported that the plant infrastructure construction of North Latitude 38 Degree Integrated Circuit Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “BWIC”) has been completed and is in the acceptance stage.

Jiang Jian, general manager of BWIC, said that after reaching production, if the chips are all used to manufacture mobile phones, more than 300 million mobile phone RF module chips can be manufactured each year.

Thirty-eight degrees north latitude Integrated Circuit Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (BWIC) was founded in 2018 and is located in Xinzhou, Shanxi Province, at thirty-eight degrees north latitude. It is a professional foundry service company for 6-inch GaAs compound semiconductor IC chips. Its ” Microwave Power Amplifier Chip Manufacturing and Processing Project” and “RF SAW Filter Chip Manufacturing and Processing Project” were selected into the list of provincial key engineering projects in Shanxi in 2020.

BWIC has built a new 6-inch GaAs integrated circuit production line, which is managed and operated by a Chinese and Japanese team with rich experience in compound semiconductor production and R&D. It can provide high-quality, high-performance pseudo-high electron mobility transistor (pHEMT) process technology. The pHEMT process can apply RF, microwave and millimeter-wave integrated circuits, mainly including RF power amplifier modules, GPS low-noise amplifiers and RF switches in smartphones, tablet computers, notebook computers, etc.
